This opportunity is for you if:
* you want to talk to voters who are friendly to Democrats;
* you want to focus less on the top of the ballot; * you’re excited about our local candidates and want to promote them;
* you’d just like to try something new!
Research has shown that when voters hear about local candidates, they’re more motivated to vote all the way UP the ticket. Most voters are already tired of seeing advertising about Sherrod Brown and Amy Acton, and positive or negative, when a canvasser leads with one of those candidates, it can end the conversation. By contrast, leading with an exciting candidate for Congress, State Representative, County Commissioner or Judge - someone who lives and works in our community and can relate to voters’ lives - can make voters interested in everything on their ballots.
We’ve had feedback from voters that this program is doing just what it’s meant to do - get people excited about voting, when they weren’t before. The Ohio Democratic Party is doing a similar program in “Blue” counties, but this approach is known to work at least as well where Democratic voters aren’t as densely packed together.
We’re canvassing every Sunday at 2 PM from the office, in parallel with the 1 PM Coordinated Campaign’s canvasses supporting Acton and Brown. We can easily arrange canvasses at other times to suit your schedule, or give experienced canvassers materials to knock at your convenience. Licking County Democrats Litter Pickup
Sunday, Sept 27 is our next scheduled litter pickup. We meet at the office at 8:00am, 2054 Cherry Valley Rd, Newark, OH 43055. After a brief training and distribution of supplies, we head out to our adopted section of highway—SR 161 and SR 310 near Lynd Fruit Farm. Please join us!
Tuesday Oct. 6th
Vote at 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM! We will gather as a group at the Licking Co. Board of Elections and Vote in Person at the beginning and end of the first day of early voting! At 4:30, we can go to the Arcade, and celebrate our Vote with the DalSanto Campaign!
